NECA.1


As many of you are probably aware, the collectible figure company NECA has taken out a license to do, among other iterations, figures based on characters from the original Mirage comic books.

I thought it might be interesting to take you through the entire approvals process - from "new concept" to "strike off." (Or, I suppose, until someone shuts me down.)

Here's NECA's first basic turtle body concept drawing. As you can see, it doesn't look a whole lot like one of the turtles from the first Mirage comics, and in fact looks more like a decent drawing of the first Playmates action figures. Given that, the drawing was rejected, and NECA asked to submit a "revised design." I also sent them a reprint of issue #1 for reference. ;)
